Sardinia is confirmed among the regions most awarded by the Fee for the cleanest waters and respect for the environment with fourteen Blue Flags.

The beaches in Sardinia that have been awarded the Blue Flag this year are, in fact, very many.

The Blue Flag recognition is among the most important internationally. The award ceremony was established in 1987 and every year it concerns 49 European countries and recently also non-European countries. The awarding of the awards is entrusted to the FEE, with the support and participation of two UN agencies: UNEP extension (United Nations Environment Programme) e UNWTO extension (World Tourism Organization) .

With this recognition, the different countries are classified and directed towards an ever greater path of environmental sustainability.

The island has achieved awards throughout the territory, which have been awarded not only for water and sustainability.

Evaluation indicators also take into account such factors as purification plants and sewage connections, waste management, initiatives promoted for better livability in the summer, valorisation of naturalistic areas, care of street furniture and beaches, possibility of access to the sea for everyone without limitations.
